Islamist militants launched attacks in northeastern Mali, killing at least 49 civilians and 15 soldiers. The attacks targeted a military camp and a boat transporting soldiers on a waterway. The interim government stated that around 50 assailants were killed in subsequent fighting. Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimeen (JNIM), a West African branch of Al Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the attacks.
