A mob in Pakistan lynched a Sri Lankan national on Friday before burning his body for alleged blasphemy in Pakistan’s Sialkot city. Priyantha Kumara, in his 40s, had been working as operational manager at a private factory on Wazirabad Road in Sialkot, in Pakistan’s Punjab province, for the past seven years.

BioNTech should be able to adapt its Covid vaccine relatively quickly in response to Omicron variant, its CEO said. BioNTech and Pfizer Inc together produced one of the first vaccines against Covid-19, with well over 2 billion doses already given to protect people around the world. There are concerns that the vaccines might not work as well against the Omicron variant which emerged last month.

The decree centres on marriage and widows' rights, stating "no one can force women to marry by coercion or pressure" and that a widow is entitled to an unspecified fixed share of her husband's inheritance. "The Islamic Emirate's leadership directs all relevant organisations ... to take serious action to enforce women's rights," the decree states, quoting supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada.
