The President's announcement came shortly after PM K P Sharma Oli lost a trust vote in the House of Representatives. Oli, who decided to seek the trust of the 275-member House on his government, managed to garner only 93 votes, which fell short of 43 votes to reach the 136-mark and win the vote of confidence during a special session of the lower house.

China's population growth is falling closer to zero as fewer couples have children, the government announced Tuesday, adding to strains on an aging society with a shrinking workforce. The population rose by 72 million over the past decade to 1.411 billion in 2020, the National Bureau of Statistics said. It said annual growth averaged 0.53%, decelerating from the previous decade.

Dozens of people were wounded when clashes erupted Monday between Palestinians and Israeli police at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa mosque compound, an AFP correspondent reported. The injured were evacuated in ambulances that were deployed outside the esplanade, the third holiest site in Islam, located in Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem.
