'No doubt' US has undercounted Covid deaths: Fauci May 09, 2021 at 05:15PM
The US, which has reported the world's worst overall Covid-19 death toll, has "no doubt" been undercounting fatal cases, top pandemic advisor Anthony Fauci said Sunday. The US has officially lost over 581,000 people to Covid-19 but a University of Washington study estimated deaths at more than 900,000. "That's a bit more than I would have thought the undercounting was," Fauci said.

While wealthier nations have stockpiled vaccines for their citizens, many poorer countries are still scrambling to secure doses. A few, like Chad, have yet to receive any. The World Health Organization says nearly a dozen countries - many of them in Africa - are still waiting to get vaccines. Those last in line on the continent along with Chad are Burkina Faso, Burundi, Eritrea and Tanzania.

Curfews and limits on social contacts no longer apply to those fully vaccinated -- more than seven million people -- or recovered from a Covid infection under the new rules. They will also no longer have to present a negative test result to access certain services such as hairdressers and "click and meet" shopping appointments.
