अमेरिका में पिछले बुधवार को इलेक्टोरल वोट की काउंटिंग के दौरान हुई हिंसा ने राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प की मुश्किलें खड़ी कर दीं। सोशल मीडिया कंपनी ट्विटर ने उनका अकाउंट ही सस्पेंड कर दिया। ट्रम्प अपनी बात कहने के लिए सबसे ज्यादा ट्विटर का ही इस्तेमाल करते थे। कंपनी के इस फैसले के पीछे 45 साल की भारतीय-अमेरिकन विजया गड्डे मजबूती से खड़ी थीं।

विजया कंपनी की टॉप लॉयर हैं। उन्होंने ही ट्रम्प के ट्विटर अकाउंट परमानेंट सस्पेंड करने की पुष्टि की थी। ट्विटर ने शुक्रवार को पहली बार ट्रम्प का हैंडल सस्पेंड किया था। कंपनी का मानना है कि ट्रम्प ने अपने ट्वीट के जरिए US कैपिटल में दंगाइयों को उकसाया और उनका सपोर्ट किया।

इसके बाद विजया सामने आईं। उन्होंने कहा कि भविष्य में ऐसी घटना दोबारा होने का खतरा है, इसलिए डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प के अकाउंट को स्थायी रूप से सस्पेंड कर दिया गया है। कंपनी के लीगल, पॉलिसी एंड ट्रस्ट और सेफ्टी इश्यू की हेड विजया ने सोशल मीडिया पर कंपनी की पॉलिसी के बारे में भी जानकारी दी।

भारत में जन्म, अमेरिका में पढ़ाई

विजया का जन्म भारत में हुआ था। बचपन में ही वे परिवार के साथ अमेरिका चली गई थीं। उनके पिता मैक्सिको की एक ऑयल रिफाइनरी में केमिकल इंजीनियर थे। विजया ने न्यू जर्सी में हाई स्कूल की पढ़ाई पूरी की।

उन्होंने अपना ग्रैजुएशन कॉर्नेल यूनिवर्सिटी और न्यूयॉर्क यूनिवर्सिटी लॉ स्कूल से किया। करीब एक दशक तक एक लॉ फर्म में काम करने के बाद 2011 में उन्होंने बतौर कॉर्पोरेट लॉयर ट्विटर को जॉइन किया था। वह बैकग्राउंड में रहकर कंपनी की नीतियां तय करती हैं। उन्होंने इस दौरान कंपनी को आकार देने में मदद की है। दुनिया की राजनीति में ट्विटर का रोल बढ़ रहा है, इसके पीछे विजया को ही माना जाता है।

दुनिया बदलने वाली महिलाओं में शामिल

भारत यात्रा के दौरान ट्विटर के को-फाउंडर जैक डोरसे ने दलाई लामा के साथ एक तस्वीर पोस्ट की थी। इसमें विजया दलाई लामा और जैक का हाथ पकड़े दिखाई दे रही हैं।

फॉर्च्यून मैग्जीन के मुताबिक, पिछले साल विजया जब ओवल ऑफिस में थीं, तब ट्विटर के को-फाउंडर जैक डोरसे डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प से मिले थे। नवंबर 2018 में उन्होंने भारत के PM नरेंद्र मोदी से मुलाकात की थी। डोरसे ने भारत यात्रा के दौरान दलाई लामा के साथ एक तस्वीर पोस्ट की थी। तब विजया दलाई लामा का हाथ पकड़े हुए दोनों के बीच में खड़ी थीं।

विजया ने उस वक्त सभी का ध्यान खींचा, जब उन्होंने कुछ बड़े अमेरिकी पब्लिकेशन में जगह बनाई। अमेरिकी कंपनी पोलिटिको ने उन्हें सबसे ताकतवर सोशल मीडिया एक्जीक्यूटिव बताया था, जिनके बारे में कम ही लोग जानते हैं। इन स्टाइल मैग्जीन ने उन्हें दुनिया को बदलने वाली महिलाओं में शामिल किया था।
