A lawmaker from the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Daniel Halemba, has been arrested on suspicion of incitement and using symbols of unconstitutional organizations. Halemba, a member of a fraternity that was raided in September on suspicion of having Nazi symbols, denies the allegations. The AfD party has seen significant gains in recent state elections, finishing third in Bavaria with 14.6% of the vote. The newly elected Bavarian state legislature is set to hold its first session on Monday.

Britain working for humanitarian pause in Gaza, foreign minister says October 29, 2023 at 11:39PM

Aid supplies to Gaza have been limited since Israel began bombing the area in response to an attack by Hamas. Cleverly is in talks with Egypt, Israel, and others to secure a temporary pause in the conflict to allow aid to reach those in need. However, he is not calling for a full ceasefire.
Indonesia candidates call on president to remain neutral ahead of poll October 29, 2023 at 11:23PM
Two potential successors of Indonesian president Joko Widodo, Anies Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo, have called on him to remain neutral in the upcoming election. There are concerns that Widodo may be trying to retain power and build a political dynasty. Widodo has publicly stated that he will not interfere in the election, but he has tacitly supported defence minister Prabowo Subianto, who is running with Widodo's son. Analysts believe that Widodo's endorsement carries significant weight due to his high approval ratings.
