In North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo, 25 soldiers were sentenced to death for fleeing Rwanda-backed M23 rebels and theft. They deserted positions, stole goods, and were detained with wives. One got a 10-year sentence. Lawyer Jules Muvweko will appeal. Army spokesman Reagan Mbuyi Kalonji noted internal military divisions. Eight officers were sentenced to death in May.

California man guilty of stabbing gay student in 2018 July 03, 2024 at 10:24PM
Samuel Woodward, 26, was convicted of first-degree murder with a hate crime enhancement for the killing of University of Pennsylvania student Blaze Bernstein. The prosecution presented evidence linking Woodward to the crime, including his affiliation with a violent, anti-gay extremist group. The defense plans to appeal the ruling.
