Egypt has unveiled a newly restored Ottoman mosque within Cairo's citadel. The mosque, built in 1528 AD, features 22 green-tiled domes and a minbar adorned with renowned Iznik tiles. It is the oldest Ottoman mosque in Cairo and sits on the site of a Fatimid-era tomb. The restoration project took five years to complete and was overseen by Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities and the military's Arab Organisation for Industrialisation.
