An Israeli court acquitted a Ukrainian immigrant, Roman Zdorov, of murdering a 13-year-old schoolgirl in 2006. Zdorov was convicted in 2010 and sentenced to life imprisonment, but his case was reopened in 2019 after doubts were cast on the forensic examination of evidence used against him. Zdorov had argued that he was coerced into confessing to the crime.
