United Nations staff around the world observed a minute's silence in memory of colleagues killed in Gaza during the Israel-Hamas conflict. The UN flag was flown at half-mast at offices in Bangkok, Tokyo, Beijing, Geneva, Kathmandu, and Kabul. The UN agency for supporting Palestinians reported that over 100 of its employees had died in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war. Israeli officials reported that around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, were killed in Hamas attacks, while the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza reported over 11,000 deaths in retaliatory strikes by Israel.
